New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS), formerly the New Hampshire International Speedway (NHIS), a multi-use complex, is located on 1,100 acres and is the largest sports facility in New England, featuring a 1.058-mile oval speedway, with a total capacity for 105,491 spectators, and a 1.6-mile road course. The speedway hosts the only NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events held in the six-state New England region.

Nobis Engineering, Inc. (Nobis) previously provided engineering services to design a runoff drainage system and a pavement subdrainage system for the one-mile super-speedway racetrack and associated paved parking facilities. The proposed surface runoff drainage system consisted of a geo-composite pavement subdrainage system, both open and closed pipe drainage systems throughout the racetrack facility, and a permanent dewatering system for the entry tunnels that allow access to the infield area.

To comply with the New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (NHDES) groundwater quality monitoring requirements, it was necessary for Nobis to install eight groundwater monitoring wells and two piezometers and conduct a quarterly monitoring program. Additionally, Nobis also conducted in-stream water quality monitoring throughout the speedway facility to assess the potential impacts of current activities on stream water quality after racing events. Throughout the project, it was necessary for Nobis to closely coordinate all design and compliance monitoring activities with the NHDES and other regulators. Nobis continues to provide scheduled water quality monitoring and compliance services to the New Hampshire Motor Speedway.
