Nobis was awarded two construction management ID/IQ type contracts by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, New England District, to provide Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) and related construction management support services during on-going environmental investigation, remediation, and restoration projects at the Massachusetts Military Reservation (MMR) over a period of 9 years.

MMR, a 21,000 acre military training facility located in the upper western portion Cape Cod is located over the recharge above a sole source aquifer that supplies drinking water for the Upper Cape. Since 1935, the reservation has been used for training, military aircraft operations, maintenance, and support purposes. Department of Defense agencies operating at MMR include the Army National Guard, U.S. Air Force, and the U.S. Coast Guard. Currently, the USACE, U.S. EPA, National Guard Bureau, and U.S. Air Force serve as key stakeholders to conduct numerous comprehensive investigations and remedial actions to address soil and groundwater contamination throughout multiple training and impact areas. As a training facility that has supported more than 60 years of live small arms, mortar, artillery training activities, contamination due to multiple types of military explosives have been detected at MMR.
