Nobis was selected by the North Country Council (NCC) for a Brownfields Assessment contract fully funded by EPA between 2005 and 2010. At a 1.8 acre industrial property in Lincoln, NH, a former water treatment plant utilized in the 1960s for wood pulp and paper waste was assessed for extent of soil and groundwater contamination. In addition, the 2-story 3,800 square foot plant building was characterized for the present of lead paint and containerized residual waste.
Using the Brownfields contract, NCC worked with municipalities to begin the investigation and remediation planning to identify the environmental issues that need to be addressed prior to redevelopment approaches to bring the properties back to beneficial use.
